Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte Recipe - The Ultimate Guide

Would you like to learn about strawberry matcha latte from one of the famous restaurants?

A lot of people have been enjoying matcha with fruits and sweets these days. I love the combination of bitterness from matcha and sweetness from fruits, especially strawberries. It not only makes you feel refreshed but also concentrates more on things!

In this article. I would like to introduce you to how to make a strawberry matcha latte!

Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte

This iced strawberry matcha latte is the most delightfully fruity, sweet, and perfectly caffeinated beverage thanks to the green tea. Even though you are not used to the bitterness of matcha, you would love the combination of sweet strawberry and matcha because strawberry makes it less bitter.

You can save money and skip going to the boba shop because it's really simple to make and tastes amazing.

Why I Recommend Making This Recipe

The recipe I introduce is from the owner-chef of the three Michelin-starred restaurant Single Thread.

Single Thread is in the northern part of California, USA.

In addition to the restaurant, they have an Organic farm ranch and accommodation.

In 2016, they were selected for The Miele One To Watch Awards 50 Best Restaurants in the World!

What you need for this recipe

  • Matcha
  • Milk (preferably whole dairy, but you can substitute with a plant-based alternative if necessary)
  • Ice cubes
  • Whipped cream
  • Strawberries
  • Water
  • Cane sugar or Granulated sugar

Helpful equipment to have for this recipe

  • Sieve
  • Whisk: I highly suggest getting a bamboo matcha whisk in order to dissolve the matcha powder. It dissolves the matcha powder completely and makes the process much simpler.

If you have a blender, you can also combine the matcha powder and milk straight in there. It is very useful if you intend to make a big batch of matcha drinks. I do not advise using a spoon or fork to dissolve matcha powder. The powder doesn't dissolve fully. Additionally, if the matcha powder is not completely dissolved, it will quickly separate when the milk is added.

How To Make An Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte

Ingredients: 1 serving

(Strawberry and matcha latte)

  • 4.2oz (120ml) dark matcha tea
  • 1.6 oz (45ml) milk
  • 2-3 ice cubes
  • Whipped cream (optional)
  • 1oz (30ml) strawberry syrup

(Strawberry syrup) *Make large quantities and freeze.

  • 400 g strawberries
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup cane sugar or granulated sugar

(Instructions)

Strawberry syrup made at home

  1. Slice the heft of the strawberries, pour water, and process in a blender.
  2. Transfer through a fine-mesh strainer or mesh cloth. Squeeze out as much juice as you can with a spatula.
  3. Add the sugar to a small saucepan and cook over low heat for approximately five minutes, or until the sugar is dissolved.

Green tea

Heat the water to a boil. In a small bowl, add the matcha and two tablespoons of water. Whisk until the mixture is completely smooth and free of any remaining clumps. After adding the remaining water, whisk until smooth once more. To cool down, place in the refrigerator for a few minutes.

Strawberry matcha latte

  1. Fill a cup with ice and pour in the strawberry syrup. Gently pour the matcha tea on top.
  2. Gently pour milk on top. Finish by floating whipped cream on top!

Tips and Notes

  • The sweetness of the strawberries and matcha can be customized to your taste.
  • Keep the leftover macerated strawberries in an airtight container or jar in the fridge.
  • The matcha can be sweetened with vanilla syrup, maple syrup, or simple syrup.

How to Make the Macerated Strawberries

You could make strawberry syrup like the way I showed above in the recipe. But you also could make macerated strawberries. Simply mix diced strawberries and granulated white sugar to create the strawberry layer. Give it around half an hour to absorb. This will result in strawberries with a delicious syrupy consistency on the outside!

I highly recommend choosing sweet, in-season strawberries whenever possible. This will make the finished product taste even better.

This can be prepared in advance and kept in the refrigerator, enabling you to enjoy strawberry matcha lattes for the entire week.

How to layer the drink for the best looks

To make perfectly distinct layers, the heaviest and coldest layers come first. Start by filling the bottom with a generous amount of ice. Add about 1/4 cup of the macerated strawberries. Please add more if you so choose. Next, we are going to drizzle some milk over the strawberries. You can use whole milk, 2% milk, almond milk, soy milk, or oat milk. If you want the gorgeous layers, you'll want to make sure you stream in the milk very slowly and gently to prevent the layers from mixing. It's okay if you decide you don't want the layers. It will have the same flavor!

FAQs

How can I make matcha smooth, not clumpy?

Incorrect storage of matcha powder results in a decline in quality, toughening, and clumping of the ground tea leaves. This also occurs when the powder isn't thoroughly dissolved in hot water after being sifted into the cup. The simplest solution for a clumpy matcha drink is to blend it smooth in a high-speed blender or strain it through a fine-mesh sieve.

Can I use strawberry syrup instead of making macerated strawberries?

Yes! You could use both! The difference between macerated strawberries and strawberry syrup is whether it has heat in the process or not. For strawberry syrup, you would need to heat them up, but macerated strawberries are not needed. You can try both and see which one you like!

Is it possible to make a Vegan Strawberry Matcha Latte?

Indeed! Instead of whole milk, you could use unsweetened plant-based milk such as soy, almond, or oat milk.

Can I make a Strawberry Matcha Latte ahead of time?

Of course, if you could prep macerated strawberries or strawberry syrup, and matcha latte separately and keep it in the fridge, it is possible!
