On a hot day in the summer, my family gathered at the house near the mountain. It is traditional for Japanese to have simple iced or hot green tea and Japanese sweets.

However, my grandmother loves iced peach green tea so she sometimes makes it for family gatherings. It is fruity and refreshing and makes my body cool down. Just thinking back on my past, sweet memories come back in my mind.

You would feel comfortable having a drink of this iced peach green tea, especially on a hot day. it is made with simple ingredients that you can pick up at your neighborhood grocery store. It tastes amazing with lemon, peach, and green tea!

Ingredients That You Need for This Recipe

  • Green tea bags
  • Peaches – fresh ones are best, but you can use canned as well
  • lemon - fresh ones are best, but you can use lemon juice from the store
  • Honey, maple syrup, or agave nectar

・blender - If you have a blender, it should come in handy. You would need to blend all ingredients together.

How to Make Iced Peach Green Tea

Ingredients - 4 servings

  • One liter of cold water
  • two bags of green tea
  • Two ripe peaches, chopped and peeled
  • 2 tbsp of freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp sweetener - homey maple syrup, or agave nectar on your preference

  1. Put the tea bags and water into a jar that can be sealed. Shut the jar lid and place it in the refrigerator to steep for the entire night.
  2. Take out the tea bags from the iced green tea the following day. Transfer the cold green tea to an upright blender. Stir in the agave nectar, lemon juice, and chopped peaches. Process on high for 45 seconds, or until the peaches are liquefied.
  3. Place a fine-mesh strainer over a bowl or pitcher with a wide mouth. Through the strainer, pour half of the iced peach green tea. Scrape away any pulp with a spoon to maintain the tea's flow through the strainer. After that, do the same with the other half of the iced peach green tea.
  4. If desired, top the peach green tea with an additional squeeze of lemon and serve. This tea can be refrigerated for up to three days in a sealed jar. Give it a shake before serving.

Tips and Notes

If you're using powdered green tea, dissolve 1 teaspoon per 100cc of water. If you prefer a more or less intense taste, adjust accordingly.

FAQs

Can I make this peach green tea in advance?

It would be best if you drank it right away. but if you want to prepare it ahead of time and save it for later, don't add the ice until the last minute to keep your drink from becoming watered down.

Can I use lemonade instead of lemon juice for this recipe?

Yes, you can use lemonade. But you have to be careful of how sweet you want the tea to be since lemonade is already sugar-included.
