Store-bought green tea can be replaced with a tasty and nutritious option, which is homemade iced green tea with honey. I usually add some lemon and orange flavor to it because I want to add a little bit of sweetness to my daily life.

Green tea has a variety of health benefits, including improved mental clarity and a lower risk of cancer. Because of its high antioxidant content, green tea is a powerful anti-inflammatory.

Green tea strengthens your heart and has been shown to lower blood sugar levels as well as gut inflammation and permeability.

Honey can be used for cough and sore throat remedies as well as for cooking marinades.

Why You Should Make This Recipe

There are some reasons why this is recommended,

  • Cutting the cost of groceries.
  • Taking processed and refined sugars out of our diets
  • Switching to homemade products instead of store-bought ones. If you buy green tea at a store, most of them would include sugar. It means you are taking sugar more than you think.

Ingredients and Substitutions In This Recipe

Water, green tea bags, and honey are the only three basic natural ingredients needed to make iced green tea with honey.

As an option, adding lemon and orange peels is suggested.

You could get a more fruity flavor in your tea.

Useful Equipment to Have

It is helpful for you to have a medium saucepan for boiling orange and lemon strips, and water.

Moreover, if you have a teapot, that would be ideal, especially for people who like to have tea parties.

How to Make Green Tea and Honey

Ingredients - 4 servings

  • 4 cups of water
  • 4 strips of lemon,
  • 4 strips of orange,
  • 4 green tea bags
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 4 slices of lemon

Instructions

In a medium saucepan, stir water, orange, and lemon peel strips together. Once it boils, turn down the heat. Simmer for ten minutes without opening. With a slotted spoon, take out and discard the lemon and orange strips.

Put the tea bags into a teapot and pour in the simmering water mixture right away. As directed on the tea package, cover and steep for one to three minutes. Squeeze the tea bags gently, and then toss away the tea bags. Add honey and stir. After transferring the tea into four heat-resistant mugs or cups, garnish each with a slice of lemon. Serve right away.

Tips and Notes

Squeeze the tea bag before discarding

Prior to discarding, make sure to squeeze the tea bags using a spoon against the kettle's side. This will release the last of the beneficial properties of the green tea leaves.

Be careful! Honey is sticking to everything

Honey can be difficult to remove from measuring cups because it adheres to everything. Honey should always be added before cold water. Until the honey is gone, submerge your measuring cup in the hot water.
